Kidney Assist Transporter

The main purpose of the project was to develop a system that offers oxygenated machine perfusion at all different timepoints in the organ donation pathway: during preconditioning, preservation and reconditioning. The design challenge was to make the product suitable for all these different situations. Sturdy and safe during transport. Logical and intuitive during installation and operation. Sterile. Sustainable. Special attention was paid to the design of the user experience, delivering feedback during the perfusion process. The iconic visual appearance ensures professional brand recognition.

Nanosensors Inside Plants

Argus

Argus is a living plant with nano sensors inside its leaves that continuously monitor water for heavy metal impurities. Nanometer scale chemical-based sensors are injected inside the leaves through pressure injection. These sensors produce a visible glow on the leaf of a plant. Argus, a bio-hybrid plant, naturally samples water in the environment and any impurities that come along with it. When lead impurities from the environment come in contact with these sensors, the florescence is quenched to indicate that there are impurities in the environment.

MyLab 9 ultrasound system provides a full range of diagnostic services. A new design with improved ergonomic, simple yet effective user interface, and a clever use of volumes are the main features of this work. Usability has been improved by redesigning the keyboard zone, making it simple and immediate. Huge efforts focused on improving probes shape and ergonomics, to lower the pain in clinicians which use them keeping the same position over time; their innovative design allows different grips, reducing musculo-skeletal strain up to 70%, for better user experience and comfort during practice.

Neuro 2

Neuro 2 is the smallest ever cochlear implant (CI) sound processor. It sets new aesthetic standards with an organic shape that is discreet and comfortable for everyone – including children and people who wear glasses. Its small design is achieved without compromising sound quality, reliability and usability. This can be seen in its IP68 rating – the highest classification against water and dust in the CI industry - and features like the voice-activated system check that lets users check if their sound processor is working by simply asking “How are you?.

CardioGraphe

The configuration of one panel and a screen (as opposed to the orthodox two panels and a screen) offered a unique opportunity for an asymmetrical design. Asymmetry will usually create a dynamic look and will evoke drama. We spent a lot of effort looking for the right amount of visual impact, while trying to stay calm, and avoiding a decorative feel. As in most cases, the challenge was the dosage between novelty and familiarity. We used flowing lines and soft forms, while retaining a certain visual tension, achieved by geometrical and "dry" separating lines.
